The Rector's Message

                                From Charlie's Desk, April, 2008

Dear Parish Friends,

The celebration of new life continues through the Great 50 Days of Easter.  This joyful time calls us to live in the spirit of the Risen Christ.  What themes are presented to us in this season?

First, the witness of the disciples persuaded many to believe.  Their remarkable eyewitness testimonies agree that Jesus was recognized, embraced and known by sight and by faith.

Second, believers were nurtured and confirmed in the faith.  Real emphasis was placed on understanding the kerygma (proclamation).  As promised, the Rector will be conducting a spring confirmation course for young people.  All middle school and high school youth are welcome.  The principle aim of this course is to prepare youth to make a mature 'profession of faith' scheduled for our Bishop's annual visit in mid-September.

Third, how did Christianity become a faith of more than just one culture and take root in multiple cultures?  I encourage us to listen well to the precedents of missionary growth in Acts.  There perhaps is no single more compelling reason for us to focus on the meaning of Jesus' Resurrection and Reign than His will we participate in making disciples among all nations.  Our life in the Anglican Communion is testimony to this great new fact of modern church history..  I rejoice and invite us to consider the implications for our church.

Many thanks to all who 'lifted up our hearts'  this Easter Season.

Warmest Regards in Him who is alive and lives forevermore,

Reverend Charlie
