Programs
What is a Church Program, Church Group or Church Event?
Church Program:
Ongoing, sustained activities, Standing Committees
Church Group:
Group of people who gather together for connection, discussion, fellowship, or to as Task Force Team.
Church-Wide Events:
One-time Activity in which a large number of people, the whole congregation, or the public are invited. Will use the resources of the church as if it were a program.
Fund-Raising:
Using UUCA resources to raise money for any cause. Fundraising could be sponsored by a program, group, event, or individual. It could include donations of money, goods, materials, etc.
Exploratory Groups:
At times meetings will be held to explore interest in a particular subject or area. These groups are free to use church resources for up to three sessions as long as leadership is a member of the congregation.
A UUCA program, group or event
should further the vision and overall purpose or mission of our congregation.
The program or event can expect
certain things from the church: use of space at UUCA rent-free, the name of the church in publicity, use of the church's tax exempt status and bulk mailing permit, and space in the newsletter, bulletin and website.
In return, the Congregation expects:
The participants to agree to the basic principles of UUCA and the Safe Congregation Covenant. The group should meet community, security, and legal responsibilities. The program/group/event leadership should be mainly members of UUCA and report activities to the Board and Congregation. Leaders should participate in Cluster and Program Council Meetings and prepare reports for the Congregation for the Congregational Meeting in May.
How to start a new Church Program, new Church Group, or initiate a Church sponsored event:
The Board of Trustees encourages and supports initiatives by individuals and groups to further the mission of the church. To provide structure to those initiatives and to assure they align with the mission of the church and are also managed appropriately in areas such as risk, safety, finances, and right relations, leaders are asked to fill out an application for approval as a church-recognized Program/Group or Event.
