To read: 1 John 2:1-6
New Revised Standard Version Bible,My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; and he is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world. Now by this we may be sure that we know him, if we obey his commandments. Whoever says, "I have come to know him," but does not obey his commandments, is a liar, and in such a person the truth does not exist; but whoever obeys his word, truly in this person the love of God has reached perfection. By this we may be sure that we are in him: whoever says, "I abide in him," ought to walk just as he walked.

To think about:
Sometimes
I feel like a little child when I fall short of my Lord's expectations. My parents were farmers and I was the oldest of eight children. When I was assigned a job and did not finish it, Mother or Dad would ask, why? Sometimes, I played the blame game. My parents reminded me that I was responsible to do the work and urged me to do better next time.
I learned from their examples and their encouragement. Today, I thank my Lord for my precious parents who loved me and sacrificed so much for us children.
To pray:
Lord, thank you for precious, patient parents who help us understand your love and forgiveness. Now guide us to "abide in you" as we teach your love to our children and grandchildren. Amen.
