In Our Community

Camp Amazing Grace

Camp Amazing Grace (www.prisonministry.ang-md.org/camp), a week at the Bishop Claggett Center during the summer for children of prisoners, was founded mainly by St. James clergy and people. Now in its fourth year, the camp gives the children a glimpse of a better life, some learning, a lot of fun and unconditional love for one week. We have seen some of those children move to gifted and talented classes and honor rolls. The time, talent and treasure given to these children by the people of St. James' is invaluable and always welcome. Contact Val Hymes - valhymes@aol.com.

Lighthouse Lunches

On the third Wednesday of each month, The Women of St. James' Parish assembles and delivers forty lunches to the Light House Shelter (www.annapolislighthouse.org). For information or to volunteer please contact Lucy Arthur - donlucyarthur@verizon.net.

Nursing Home Ministries

St. James' Parish is involved in retirement communities, nursing homes, and convalescent homes. On a monthly basis we provide a Eucharist and healing service at Ginger Cove retirement community and South River Health and Rehabilitation. On other occasions members of the congregation provide prayer shawls and services from the Reserved Sacrament. The clergy are often called upon to visit other facilities in and around our community. Whether people are able to attend church services or not, it is our hope to minister to all that are in need. If you are interested in helping with this important ministry please contact a member of the clergy.
