Diocese: St. Andrew's Episcopal Church is a parish in the Diocese of Maryland. The Right Rev. John L. Rabb was consecrated Suffragan Bishop of Maryland on October 10, 1998, and was named Bishop-in-Charge on April 10, 2007, upon the retirement of the Right Rev. Robert W. Ihloff. During the search for a new bishop, The Rt. Rev. Michael Creighton, and the Rt. Rev. Rodney Michel have been names Assisting Bishops. Membership: If you are baptized, you are already a member of the Church, the Body of Christ. However, joining the Church also means belonging to a particular parish family. If you are entering St. Andrew's from another Christian denomination, or another Episcopal parish, please request a "Letter of Transfer" through your parish office. If you need assistance with this, please contact our office. If you are not officially an Episcopalian and wish to become one, please speak to the rector about your desire. Regular sessions of "introduction to the faith" are offered in the parish. Stewardship: The Episcopal Church affirms the tithe as the "minimum standard of his or her giving for Episcopalians" and urges each member to work toward tithing (10%) as the minimum standard of his or her giving as witness. We recognize that few members of the Church are able to begin immediately to give at this level. We endorse a process of proportionate giving, whereby contributors begin giving a set percentage of their income to the work of the Church with the intention of increasing that percentage until they reach at least the 10% tithe. The annual stewardship drive is conducted in the fall of each year. Offering envelopes are provided to members of the congregation in December of each year. Quarterly statements are provided to members of the congregation which reflect their financial offerings to the Church. The Shield: St. Andrew's monthly newsletter.
