COMMUNITY: REACHING OUT TO OUR NEIGHBORS
- Your Neighborhood Church
We
are involved in supporting a new Christian faith community in western
Anne Arundel County, especially for individuals and families living in
and around Odenton, Crofton, Gambrills and Severn. Learn more by visiting their website. - Stephen Ministry
Intending to extend our Pastoral Ministry, we specifically train lay
members in the spirituality of listening, prayer, compassion and
one-on-one caring. As we seek to respond to Jesus' instruction to "love
one another as I have loved you," Christian support and friendship in
confidential and non-judgmental relationships are made available to
fellow members in and beyond the church family, who face difficult
times in their lives. Contact Cindy Van Vliet through the church office.
- Grief Share
We are encouraged by Christ to share one another's pain and sorrow.
Through prayer, contact and support groups, the Bereavement Ministry
members share Christ's love to those who are grieving the loss of a
loved one. Contact Joanne Mitchell through the church office. For more information about Grief Share, visit their website here.
- SPAN
SPAN provides help to families in our community needing food or
emergency financial assistance for eviction prevention, utility
cut-offs and prescription costs. SPAN is supported by congregations
throughout Severna Park and is located in the OSLC Parish House. Visit
their website here.
- Service & Outreach Ministry
The mission of the Service and Outreach Committee is to help provide
the members of Our Shepherd opportunities to serve our neighbors –
whether they are local or far away. We serve in a number of ways –
supporting SPAN, sheltering and feeding the homeless, bringing meals to
the homebound, making quilts to warm the cold, sending shoeboxes with
gifts to those who might otherwise have nothing, raising social justice awareness…and there is more that
is done and that can be done. All are welcome! New ideas on how to better serve God's people are welcome too! Contact Justine
Jimenez through the church office.
