Carving the turkey (me!)

The visit to a new doktor, a dermatologist, was interesting. I arrived at the office figuring that at most she would look at the rash on my elbows, and give me a creme or something to put on them and I'd be on my way. I should know by now nothing is that easy.

The nurse took my vitals, and asked yet again if I'm an athlete or how much exercise I get since all my vitals are so good. Of course, this was before I pointed out that I'm missing a decent segment of my colon and my liver is on the way out!

She then said something like "oh, I see that you react to epinephrine." This is true because once in the dentist office I was injected with novocain with it and my heart went bonkers. Wondering why she asked me that, I said I have had an episode in the past. She told me they use epinephrine in their procedures. What procedures?

The doktor then came in. I pointed out the slight rash on my elbows and knees. She said I'll get a prescription, but she also wanted to take a biopsy, right then and there. Out comes a bunch of needles and knives and she proceeds to carve a decent segment of my left arm above the elbow. I felt like a Thanksgiving Day turkey.

She put a suture in, and gave me instructions including to not get the area wet for two days (!) and then change the dressing once a day after a quick wash each day thereafter. I go back in ten days to get the suture removed.

Something interesting is that I've been reading about problems involving CAT scans and the contrast used causing problems in certain people, including rashes. I've had my share of CAT scans, so who knows. Then again, perhaps this is the flesh eating disease that is going around. Heck, that would overshadow my liver, eh?
