The fall meeting was held at the Navy Robert Crown Center on September 16, 2000. Highlights:
The Navy regatta will be a 2 day regatta - we will put out a request to find local members who can host visiting teams.
MASSA will continue to select ISSA board nominees at the winter annual meeting to be presented to the ISSA annual meeting the following fall.
Previously schools could not receive MASSA championship scoring points for regattas sailed before their dues had been received. This rule has been amended to include: "A school will be ineligible for the season championships if their dues have not been paid prior to the season championships."
Because more schools now want to attend the championships than we can accommodate, the following motion was passed: "If there are more teams than boats available for the championships, selection of teams will be based on district standings."
It was also decided to solicit proposals from the membership on how to best accomodate the increased membership - to be presented at the MASSA annual winter meeting: Form local leagues/regions? Establish a system of elimination regattas for the qualifier regattas to see who goes to the Nationals? Find more regatta hosts? Institute a LeMans-type start, where everyone jumps in the water and swims to the anchored boats - the first ones to the boats get to sail them?
