REPORT of MASSA ANNUAL MEETING - FEB 25, 2001

The MASSA annual meeting was held from 11am to 2pm at the Naval Academy Sailing Center on February 25. 2001.

Attendance: 15 schools were represented at the meeting: AACS, Severn, Gunston, McQuaid, Patuxent, Richard Montgomery, Georgetown Day, Pt Pleasant, Southern Regional, Severna Park, Annapolis, Broadneck, St Mary's, Southern, and Key. 9 others had responded by eMail.

Director's Report:

Membership is down from 43 at this time last year to 32. The largest losses are in the Long Island area (14 to 7) and New Jersey (8 to 6). We anticipate two schools joining in the near future but there are perhaps 6 schools that are still trying to get organized or having trouble with the school administrators.

Treasury: The MASSA bank account has increased to 1498.93 from 1141.01 last year. Income so far this year was $480 and expenses (USPS 67.20, Copying 73.65, and Plaques 59.45) were $200.30 - the major expense to come this year will be the spring plaques. We opened a new checking account in Annapolis and both Bill Schneider and Andrew Cole have access to it.

New Rules: the membership was informed that ISSA is continuing to operate under the old rules through the spring semester. Some discussion resulted concerning the new rules.

Awards: Pt Pleasant Boro High School, New Jersey, was awarded the plaque for last year's overall MASSA championship and St. Mary's High, Annapolis, was awarded the plaque for the fall season championship.
