Welcome and thank you for visiting

welcoming you at a worship service.
Living Word gathers around Word and Sacrament, using a variety of liturgical settings. In addition to services from Evangelical Lutheran Worship and the Lutheran Book of Worship, Living Word uses the Chicago Folk Service, "God Give Us Life" by Ray Makever, "Now the Feast and Celebration" by Marty Haugen, and other contemporary services. Living Word offers educational and service opportunities for children and adults. Some of these events are intergenerational. Follow the congregational events link to learn of recent and planned worship, educational, and service and social opportunities. The congregation meets in The Meeting House, an interfaith center in the Oakland Mills Village Center of Columbia. Follow the find us link to obtain directions and a map. Founded in 1972, Living Word is a member congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and the Delaware-Maryland Synod of the ELCA. The mission of the Lutheran Church of the Living Word is to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ and demonstrate the love of Christ by serving the needs of the community and the world with our commitment of time, talent, and resources. |
