Discussion: This presentation will cover the Security Information & Event Management application space and address industry questions as to what SIEM is, how SIEM, SEM and Log Aggregators differ and how these solutions all work together. We will address how a SIEM tool will provide value to an organization in more ways than just a simple security tool as well as discussing various considerations and approaches for a successful implementation. The presentation will be informative and collaborative as group participation and questions are highly encouraged. Please bring your thoughts, experiences and appetite as we delve into the world of security information and event management! - What is SIEM Speaker Profile: Chris Banta, CISSP, ACSA, ACIA, ITIL - Director, Strategic Services Chris serves as a Strategic Services Director for the Ohio Valley for FishNet Security, where he helps to drive the technical strategies and processes for the professional services organization. Chris has over nine years of experience in the computer security industry with a strong background managing security programs for several large Fortune 500 banks. Chris has a very diverse knowledgebase and is a respected security practitioner in the areas of vulnerability management and Incident response. Prior to FishNet Security, Chris was AVP and manager of the Vulnerability Management / Incident Response Team at Fifth Third Bank. Chris has been highly involved in defense in depth security and has a deep understanding of Security Information and Event Management systems in both enterprise and global enterprise network environments.
