Special Worship Services

Mid-Week Lenten services are held on Tuesday evenings following the Soup Supper fellowship. Usually centered on quiet meditation or a teaching topic, these services enhance the Lenten journey to the Cross.

Holy Week

• Palm Sunday - Procession and Blessing of Palm Branches and reading of the Biblical story of the Passion (Jesus’ last days) at 8:30 and 11:15 a.m.
• Seder (Passover) Meal, Tuesday of Holy Week, remembers God’s promise of freedom from the bondage of slavery as well as God’s gift of Holy Communion during Passover.
• Maundy Thursday commemorates Jesus’ giving the command to “love one another as I have loved you.” The service remembers Jesus last night with His disciples in the Upper Room. Service is at 7:15 p.m.
• Good Friday remembers Jesus’ last hours with a reading of the Passion and dramatic readings. The service ends in silence and darkness. The service begins at 7:15 p.m.
• Holy Saturday begins in the darkness and moves through Scripture and readings through the transition to Easter, ending with a celebration of New Life and the Joy of Christ’s resurrection. The service begins at 7:00 p.m. and is VERY suited to families.
• Easter Sunday includes special music, brass, and the joy-filled celebration of the Easter Resurrection at both services. An Easter Brunch is served between services.

Pentecost, 50 days following Easter, is the Service of Confirmation at the 8:30 am service. Young people who have been instructed in the faith, re-affirm their Baptismal promises in this very special service.

Music Sunday in early June celebrates the gifts of the musical program with many special vocal and bell offerings.

Thanksgiving Eve - the Wednesday night before Thanksgiving we gather to thank God for the blessings bestowed upon us. Readings from past Thanksgiving Proclamations as well as dramatic readings have enhanced this Service of Thanksgiving.

Christmas Eve services include a children’s service (or Pagent depending on the scheduling), and two candlelight services, one at 7:30 and one at l0:00 p.m. Both late services include Christmas Carols, special music, and Holy Communion.
