HIGH SCHOOL

Preparing students for life after high school is the goal of the high school program. This preparation includes academic skills, social/emotional behaviors and transition to employment or college. We want our students to maintain personal relationships, enjoy satisfying work and maintain good physical and mental health, as well as have the necessary academic skills for a fulfilling life.

OUR STUDENTS
The high school serves adolescents ages 15 through the school year in which the student becomes 21. Younger students may be placed in the high school if it is socially or academically appropriate. A wide variety of abilities are served in our individualized program, from cognitively delayed to gifted. The programs include students who are learning disabled, autistic, have other health impairments, or are multi-disabled. In each case, the child’s strengths are emphasized while needs are addressed.

OUR STAFF
The high school team is staffed at a 4:1 pupil/staff ratio. Clinical staff are also assigned to the team. Vocational assistants, transition specialists and job coaches prepare our students for the post high school move to work or college. A psychologist, occupational therapist, physical therapists, social worker and speech and language therapists are also available as resources to the staff, as well as providing direct service as appropriate to meet the needs of each student.

THE PROGRAMS
The Harbour High School offers several curricula. The Honors program is designed for students with high academic ability that are planning on entering post secondary education upon leaving high school. Other programs offer a diploma for those students who will be entering the work force directly from high school, considering a community college or a technical post high school education. A high school certificate program is available for those students who may enter supported employment and/or who may not live independently. The specific credits needed for graduation will differ between students based on the requirement established by the referring school district.
