Every life is a profession of faith, and exercises an inevitable and silent influence. --Amiel

An over-production of free-radicals in your system can wreak havoc on cells and tissues, destroying important components of the immune system. Free-radicals are a part of everyday life, causing oxidation as a normal biological process that exists in all living things. Even though free-radicals won't go away, we can control them. Studies show that antioxidants have been effective in controlling the assault of free-radicals. One of the most powerful known antioxidants is pycnogenols.

Over the last couple of years there has been a great deal of discussion regarding the health benefits of red wine. It was discovered that in the red wine consumption regions of France, cardiovascular disease was very low when compared to that of the United States. This concept was extremely puzzling. The French in these regions have a diet rich in saturated fats and is a population where heavy cigarette smoking is much more prevalent. So what does all this have to do with red wine and what does red wine have to do with free radicals?
Red wine is made from red grapes. Scientists have proven that the combination and concentration of both the grape seed and the grape skin contain the highest levels of a group of bioflavonoids called proanthocyanins and anthocyanins. These specific groups of super antioxidant compounds are better known as pycnogenols. They have been described as the most active substances known in the battle against free radicals. They have proven to be twenty times more effective than vitamin C and fifty times more effective than vitamin E in terms of free radical quenching capability. Free radicals are highly destructive, unstable molecules that damage and destroy the body's cells. An accumulation of free radical damage leads to chronic degenerative diseases and the acceleration of the aging process.

Free radicals are implicated in many disorders including:
|
- wrinkling of the skin
- age spots
- atherosclerosis
- circulation problems
- heart disease
- arthritis
- allergies
- varicose veins
- liver damage
- poor eyesight
- diabetes
- cataracts
- kidney damage
- cancer
- fatigue
- Alzheimer
- strokes
- Parkinson's disease

Antioxidants are the answer in the war against free radicals. Alliance has watched the onslaught of pycnogenol-type products entering into the market place over the last several years. The first products promoting pycnogenols on a wide scale used pine bark as their source. As more research became available, the combination of grape seed extract and pine bark emerged. Researchers now agree that grape seed has a 10% minimum higher yield of proanthocyanins than that of pine bark. In addition, grape seed extract (unlike pine bark) contains "gallic esters," the most powerful of the proanthocyanins. Once the best source of proanthocyanins and anthocyanins had been established, Alliance's goal became to deliver a superior product to the market.
In the 80's and 90's, consumers found that the ability to become and stay healthy, and retain the look and feel of youthfulness had a lot to do with their bodies receiving adequate amounts of antioxidants.
Since research findings from the U.S. and around the globe have surfaced, individuals of all ages and activity levels have increased their intake of certain foods known to be rich in antioxidants, while taking supplements rich in C, E and other free-radical scavengers. Perhaps you are wondering what free-radicals are and how they relate to one's over-all health and well-being.
Free-radicals are a part of everyday life and unfortunately aren't going to disappear. Oxidation caused by free-radicals is a normal biological process that occurs in all living things. For example, when you see brown spots on falling leaves or bananas - that is evidence of free-radical activity. In the human body however, an over-production of free-radicals causes damage to cells and tissues which proves to be both potentially dangerous and aesthetically undesirable. The good news is that antioxidants have been shown to be effective in controlling the onslaught of free-radicals.
Introducing the finest formulation on the market today ... Natures Nutrition® Plexnogenoltm
A complex of Super Bioflavinoids and Pycnogenols Renowned scientists agree, pycnogenols are one of the most powerful known antioxidants. Pycnogenols are natural plant constituents which can be found in abundance in Italian grape seed. Grape extracts, present in Plexnogenoltm provide Proanthocyanin from grape seed and Anthocyanin complex from grape skin. But Nature's Nutrition Plexnogenoltm offers even more: Glutathione (strongly recommended by researchers as being a key antioxidant), plus Quercitin and a citrus complex rich in bioflavinoids.
