Location: Severna Park High School Auditorium

A Musical Journey through the lives of Amelia Earhart and George Putnam from when they met in 1928 until her disappearance in 1937.

Music provided by the Londontowne Symphony Orchestra.

Proceeds benefit the Severna Park Mural Project.

This musical had its world premiere in 2004. This is the first time an orchestra has provided musical accompaniment for this show. Music will be provided by the Londontowne Symphony Orchestra.

Amelia Earhart was the first woman to address the brigade of Midshipman at the U.S. Naval Academy. According to an article in The Capital, she landed her plane in St. Margarets and was driven into Annapolis.

You will hear three selections from the play. Mary Spencer (who portrays Amelia Earhart) and Scott Tanski (who portrays Amelia’s flamboyant promoter who eventually becomes Amelia’s husband) are assisted on harmony vocals by musical director Anita Patton O’Connor. The first song is Spread Your Wings. George is attempting to convince Amelia to be the first woman to fly the Atlantic by air, as a passenger. The second song is The Journey’s Not Over. Amelia is trying to decide whether to take George up on his offer. The last song, The Wisdom of Solomon, is sung as duet the night before Amelia is to leave on her round the world flight.

Music is composed by Doug Schenker & John Starr.
Lyrics are by Doug Schenker, except Spread Your Wings
