"Individuals who struggle with concurrent addiction and Axis II disorders present complex treatment challenges and are more common than has been recognized. Ms. Ekleberry is a rare practitioner who comprehends the dynamics of these disorders, can describe how they augment each other, and explains how to work therapeutically with these individuals."
"A pioneer in the field of dual disorders treatment, Sharon Ekleberry was one of the first to recognize thge need for treatment integration. This new book looks at how each personality disorder can uniquely block integrated treatment, and how therapeutic intervention, not dynamite, can lower the barrier."
"Each chapter of this invaluable book is dedicated to the personality disporders identified in the DSM-IV-TR and provides the clinician with a comprehensive description of that disorder, how it impacts and is impacted by alcohol and drug use, and clear guidelines concerning how to provide integrated treatment. I heartily recommend this book for both mentla health and substance abuse professionals."
"I love your book!!! I got it a couple of days ago and am very impressed. A lot of beautifully done work. Clear, concise, a pleasure to read, chock full of material pulled together from many fragmented resources and much experience. I love the matter-of-fact AND compassionate descriptions of those with the disorders. I've never seen all that put into one place and get tired of clinicians disparaging people with even one of the disorders, let alone the co-occurring, because the clients can't be "fixed" to our satisfaction. Matter of fact, the last person I saw today is a male with severe Borderline PD, rapidly heading into alcohol dependence (21 y/o). I'm putting Integrated Treatment....on the book list for next semester's courses (Mental Health/Psychiatric Nursing & Practicum in Prescriptive and Other Therapeutics Mental Health Nursing). It is superb! Thank you for doing it!!"
