3 Crosses
And the thief said,
"Jesus, remember me when you come into your Kingdom."
And Jesus replied, "Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise."
(Luke 23: 42-43)

The Community of St. Dysmas is a Lutheran congregation within the Maryland correctional system, operating independently of the state government. The congregation is a member of the Delaware-Maryland Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, (ELCA) and Prison Congregations of America

This Website may look different from others. For example, we are not featuring pictures of a beautiful sanctuary. The rather sparce appearance of this Website is intentional, reflecting the bare nature of life for the incarcerated.

What we are about --

  • On the corporate level, this is a ministry to the incarcerated.
  • On the personal level, this ministry is about transformation.

Through the Spirit, we are about helping each other (inmates and volunteers) change, grow, and become more of who God wants us to become.

The congregation has a speakers' bureau of former members, council members, and the pastor, who are available to speak before church or community groups or at worship services. To arrange such a presentation, call the church office at 410-233-7897 or send an E-mail request to the pastor. The congregation's FAX number is 410-233-3997.

You are visitor number since January 2001.
