NOTICE OF RACE
September 27-28, 2008
1.
RULES
1.1 The regatta will be governed by The Racing Rules of Sailing 2005-2008, the Prescriptions of US SAILING, the 2005-2008 ISSA Procedural Rules, this Notice of Race (except as changed by the sailing instructions), and the Sailing Instructions.
2.
SAFETY
All competitors must wear a USCG approved Type III
non-inflatable lifejacket at all times while on the water, except to quickly
change clothing.
3.
ELIGIBILITY
3.1
Competing sailors must attend schools that are members of ISSA.
3.2
No student below the level of 9th grade
shall be eligible to compete.
4.
ENTRY AND COMMUNICATIONS
4.1
Entry Deadline: Intent to enter and fleet specification must be
received by Saturday, September 20, 2008
4.2
Eligible competitors must enter by informing MASSA president Bill Schneider by
e-mail at massa@toadmail.com
4.3
Competitors must fill out liability and medical release forms at SSA on
September 27.
5.
BOATS
7.1
Sailors will supply their own Laser and Laser Radial class legal boats.
7.2
There will be no rotation of boats. The boat shall be sailed “as supplied.”

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

0830:
Competitors should arrive to rig boats, eat breakfast, and pick up lunch.
0900:
Competitors Meeting (MANDATORY)
1000:
First Warning. Racing will continue throughout the day.
1200:
A lunch break will be taken on the water around noon. Lunches are available for
purchase from the SSA Snack Shop. Racing will continue until late, weather
permitting. At the conclusion of racing for the day dinner will be available to
all competitors as well as coaches and parents.

SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
9.1
Sailing instructions will be available Saturday morning.
8.
RACING AREA
10.1
All races will be sailed in the Severn River.
9.
COURSES
11.1
Courses will follow ISSA PR 7.7. Based on conditions, the Race Committee will
determinethe courses.
10. IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL CRESSY CONTESTANTS:
14.1
No contestant shall use, either on or off the water, alcoholic beverages (beer,
wine, or distilled spirits, each as defined in Chap 51 of the US Internal
Revenue Code and intended for beverage use), or marijuana, cocaine, or any
other controlled substance (as defined in 21 US Code 802), the possession of
which, by that contestant is unlawful under 21 US Code 841. Infringements of
this regulation and/or other discipline occurring during this championship may
be
the basis for a hearing under RRS 69.1 The protest committee for such a hearing
shall be the regatta chair, a member of the ISSA Board of Directors (BOD), and
the protest committee chair. This protest committee shall, at a time and place
selected by them, meet to hear said protest, and their decision to impose
scoring penalties, or other sanctions they alone deem appropriate,
including
summary removal from the regatta, shall be final, without appeal.
