The Northeast League consists of high school teams from New Jersey and Long Island, and adjacent areas of New York. It was authorized by vote at the 2004-5 Winter meeting of the MidAtlantic Scholastic Sailing Association (MASSA), which is a district of the InterScholastic Sailing Association (ISSA). (There are no current district member schools from Pennsylvania. New member schools from Pennsylvania may join the most convenient league for them with the approval of the MASSA board of directors.)

The director of the Northeast league is George Linzee who teaches science and directs the sailing program at Stony Brook School on Long Island. George is a member-at-large of the Board of Directors of ISSA.

The leagues are newly formed and are developing a system to hold the majority of sailing opportunities for member schools. They are also in charge of selecting teams to attend the district events.

To all NE League Teams and Coaches - September 3, 2008

The fall schedule is posted below as of 9/3. Please email me the regattas you are signing up for, first come, first serve. Make sure that your team can attend before you sign up.

Please take note that there are two NE League fleet racing qualifiers (9/13 and 10/4) that determine who attends the MASSA fall fleet championship on 11//1. The Sept 13 fleet qualifier #1 is coming up fast.

Also, please email me any comments about the schedule you may have. You can also reach me by cell (late evenings are the best time) Unfortunately, we could not work around the SAT dates on 10/4 and 11/1. These were the only days the sites could host and we needed the large fleets.

Also, please make sure that your team's registration is pending by going to the ISSA website and entering this year's data by the end of September. Please send your ISSA/MASSA dues check to Bill Schneider as indicated on the ISSA website.

        US Coast Guard High School Open Fall Regatta: Several NE Laeague schools are attending

10/25 Sat 9-4 NE League Team Racing Qualifier at NY Maritime, NY Top 8 teams in the League will be selected to attend. Determines who attends MASSA district Championship on Nov 8th.
         We hope to schedule another fleet race on this date for those schools who do not have three or more skippers.
