Associated Church Press:
http://www.theacp.org/
- I hesitate to call the Associated Church Press a kind of AP for
the
denominational

gather
news.

most
denominational publications, by the way).

abstaining
from membership in this monitoring group.

Religion
Research:
http://hirr.hartsem.edu/org/faith_denominations_homepages.html

comprehensive
set of links to denominational Web sites.

world and
more.

http://www.recus.org
- This is more of a denominational site than a news site, but it
does post press releases.
- The Reformed Episcopal Church is a tiny branch of Anglicanism,
very
conservative
and notably scholarly, maintaining three seminaries (Philadelphia;
Shreveport,
La.; and Summerville, S.C.), and the liturgy of the 1549 Book of Common
Prayer.
- The denomination generally opposes the ordination of women and
stands
on
the conservative side of most social issues. This is its news site.

denomination known as the Anglican Province of America. Press
releases for both organizations are posted at this joint site.

the world's
largest
Buddhist organizations for lay people.
Founded in the late 1920s by a pacifist and education reformer
who died
in 1944 in prison for his opposition to Japan's militarism, the
organization
is influential -- and controversial -- in Japanese politics.

Diego,

Tribune.

human experience, conscience and reason ultimate religious authority.
The UUA originated in 1961, a consolidation of two denominations
with
marginal
Christian roots in the 18th and 19th centuries. In 2001, the
association
elected its first African-American president.
Beacon Press in Boston is the major publishing arm of the UUA,
which
has
its headquarters on Beacon Street in Boston.
The site keeps track of Unitarian-Universalists (often called
UUs) in
the News.
United
Methodist News Service:
http://www.umc.org/umns/
- The official news voice of the United Methodist Church.
- For a better look at breaking news, visit the United
Methodist Reporter site.
Denominational newspapers:
I don't want to be cynical or hypercritical, but many of
these
newspapers are not strong in covering breaking news or controversial
issues.
Occasionally, one will find a strong newsgathering impetus, as, for
example,
at the United
Methodist
Reporter or Jewish
Week,
but generally these newspapers act more as public relations vehicles.
This list might help one
find a paper not listed below.
Keep in mind that there are hundreds
of church, temple, mosque and
diocesan
newspapers
that do not have editions posted on
the
WWW.

The parent organization is UMR Communications, a Dallas, Texas-based,
religious

tackles
controversial stories. Worth a visit.
