Another Baltimore Computer Users Group
is mostly made up of PC "home" users, whose interests include: internet surfing, graphics, digital photography,
productivity software, games and almost anything related to computing.

General
Meetings



The May General Business meeting will be held on May 21 (MONDAY) from 7:00PM - 8:45PM at the North County Library in Glen Burnie. We will have a general Question and Answer session to address problems with laptops. We will also demo a member's new laptop and look at using Windows MovieMaker for our video contest. The public is welcome to attend.

There will be no General Business meetings in June or July. The SIGs will continue to meet during this SUMMER BREAK .

Our Summer Break ends with the August General Business meeting. It will be held on August 27th (MONDAY) from 7:00PM - 8:45PM at the North County Library in Glen Burnie. We will be looking at the program "Audacity" and how it handles sound files. The public is welcome to attend.

The September General Business meeting will be held on the 24th (MONDAY) 7:00PM - 8:45PM at the North County Library in Glen Burnie.

Special
Interest
Groups

Special Interest Group meetings are for ABCUG members and are usually held in the host member's home. The SIG meetings are focused on a particular area of interest and often allow "hands on" experience, a chance to learn about new tools and an opportunity to socialize with other menbers.

May 2007:
A Hardware SIG will be held on May 2 (Wednesday), 7:00PM – 9:00PM at Joe’s House.
The Game (LAN) SIG will be held on May 26 (Saturday), 5:30PM – 11:00PM at Steve’s House.

June 2007:
A PC-SIG will be held on June 6 (Wednesday), 7:00PM – 9:00PM at Patty’s House. We will look at digitizing family audio tapes and following up on the Q&A session from the General meeting.
A Game (LAN) SIG will be held on June 30 (Saturday), 5:30PM – 11:00PM at Patty’s House.

July 2007:
The Digital Media SIG will be held on July 11 (Wednesday), 7:00PM – 9:00PM at Steve’s House. A couple of members will demo commercial video editing software that they like to use.
A Game (LAN) SIG will be held on July 28 (Saturday), 5:30PM- 11:00PM at Ron’s House.

August 2007:
The Internet SIG will be held on August 1 (Wednesday), 7:00PM – 9:00PM at Dziki’s House.
A Game (LAN) SIG will be held on August 25 (Saturday), 5:30PM – 11:00PM at Patty’s House.

September 2007:
A Hardware SIG will be held on September 5 (Wednesday), 7:00PM – 9:00PM at Joe’s House.
The Game (LAN) SIG will be held on September 22 (Saturday), 7:00PM – 9:00PM at Steve’s House.
A Calendar Workshop will be held on September 29 (Saturday), 6:00PM – 9:00PM at Joe’s House.

Unless otherwise noted, SIGs start on Wednesdays at 7 PM and run no later than 9 PM. Please check your e-mail for last minute changes due to weather, etc.

Contests for 2007

In January we announced a contest to encourage members to create videos. They will be judged by the membership this Fall, like our Calendar Contest. Many of our meetings will focus on aspects of making a video, so this is our theme for the year.

Remember to make entries for our calendar contest, too. Your summer vacations provide a great opportunity to make winning entries. --If you remember to keep your camera close.

Mail Lists

ABCUG has created a group distribution list on the "Yahoo Groups" site. Messages posted to there are automatically sent to subscribed members, so you don't have to remember a bunch of e-mail addresses.

This is a free service, but you may need to register with Yahoo Groups.

We recommend subscribing to this list since automatic meeting reminders and any last minute schedule changes will be sent to it.
